guaranteed departureThis is most popular of all
the routes that lead up to the Mountain. It is the
steepest and the fastest way up Mt Kenya and ascends
the mountain from the west. The route is not
particularly scenic but has some of the best tourist
accommodations. Most climbers begin at the park
gate, although it is possible to drive a vehicle as
far as the Met station (3050 metres). Among the
challenges in this route include the vertical bog
and the extremely steep trail on looses gravel while

DAY 1: NARO MORU
Depart from Nairobi at 09:00hrs and proceed South
towards the cool slopes of Mt. Kenya. Cross the
Equator and arrive at Nanyuki Town in good time for
Lunch. Ovenight at Nanyuki town Lodge
DAY 2 MET.CAMP SITE
After breakfast transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to
Old Moses camp for overnight (3300m), 3 to 4 hrs
hikes (9kms). Old Moses is where you acclimatize as
you also come across different vegetation.
DAY 3: MACKINDER'S CAMP
Hike up through the Teleki valley to Mackinders Camp
where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks.
Walking time approximately 4-6 hours. Overnight
Mackinders Camp.
DAY 4: MACKINDER'S CAMP SITE
A pre- dawn attempt of point Lenana is made to
ensure a successful summit bid and to try to reach
the summit in time for a clear view of the majestic
scenery. After climbing Pt. Lenana we return back to
Mackinders camp for breakfast and then proceed down
to Met Station Lodge for overnight
DAY 5: Mt Kenya -Samburu Game Reserve
After breakfast at Met station walk down to Park
Gate to catch your transport to
Samburu Game Reserve Pick up from hotel at 0730hrs, a safari briefing
session with our Tour officer then drive to up to
the Equator crossing for a short stop to see the
"performing of the waters", where a local
entrepreneur demonstrates the clockwise and
anticlockwise properties of running water on each
side of the Equator line. Continue to the Lodge,
oopportunity to see the wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve. Several large game species common to Kenya's northern plains can be found in abundance here, including the following dry-country fauna: gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, oryx and reticulated giraffe. All three big cats, the lion, cheetah and African leopard can also be found here, as well as the elephant, Cape buffalo and hippopotamus
mammals frequently seen in the park include olive baboon, warthogs, Grant's gazelle, Kirk's dik-dik, impala, and waterbuck. A black rhinoceros,over 350 species of bird. These include grey-headed kingfisher, sunbirds, bee-eaters, Marabou stork, tawny eagle, Verreaux's eagle, bateleur, vulturine guineafowl, yellow-necked spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller, secretary bird, superb starling, northern red-billed hornbill, yellow-billed hornbill, and various vultures including the palm-nut vulture
Ewaso Ng'iro river contains large numbers of Nile crocodile . Afternoon game
drive. Dinner and Overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 6: Samburu Game Reserve Morning game drive followed by breakfast, spend the
morning at leisure at the lodge pool or the terrace
overlooking the river. After lunch proceed for an
afternoon game drive. Overnight at Samburu Sopa
Lodge.
Day 7: Samburu - Lake Nakuru Depart after breakfast and drive via Nyahururu Falls
to Lake Nakuru, in time for lunch and an afternoon
game drive.Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored
on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds
found here,Black and white rhinos thrive in the
surrounding national park, which also has its fair
share of Cape buffalo, African wild dog, zebra,
eland, waterbuck and lion. In recent years Nakuru
has attracted fame for the high number of leopard
sightings, and the rare Rothschild's giraffe Dinner and Overnight at Budget Lodge in Nakuru
Town .
Day 8 :Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara We break the camp/depart the lodge soon after
breakfast and proceed to Masai Mara to arrive in
good time for Lunch. Late afternoon game drives
followed by dinner and overnight stay at
Mara
Mwangaza Safari Camp
Day
9&10: Masai Mara National Reserve Full day spent exploring the park in search of the
Big 5. Dinner and overnight at
Mara Leisure Lodge or Sopa lodge Masai
Mara wildlife is on permanent show: large resident
herds of animals (zebras, antelopes, elephants,
giraffes, buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles,
impalas, topis… ) and their predators (lions,
leopards, cheetahs, hyenas…) are prevalent all year
round ,These birds are prolific and come in every
size and color including common but beautiful ones
like the lilac breasted roller and plenty of other
large species like eagles.Every July (or sometimes
August), the wildebeest travel from Tanzania's
Serengeti plains, northwards to the Masai Mara and
the Mara River is the final obstacle.
Day 11: Masai Mara – Nairobi Morning game drives then drive to Nairobi via Narok;
we stop to browse in the bustling, vibrant Masai
markets to buy curios and handicrafts before
continuing to Nairobi and drop off at the airport
where our safari ends.
